"Aire today, gone tomorrow..", your free guide to low cost camper van touring in France
Airetoday.mobi (and its PC version airetoday.co.uk) offers free information and advice on low-cost overnight parking for motorhomes and camper vans in France, based on the country's extensive network of Aires Camping-Car. These Aires (not to be confused with the rest areas you find beside Autoroutes) are purpose-built to accommodate motorhomes and camper vans overnight and thus boost tourism income in the immediate locality. Some are free of charge, but most will cost you a modest sum, typically 5-8 Euros a night. Their size, facilities, and locations vary considerably, but they all offer a parking spot, and all but a small few offer service points for waste disposal and refreshing your water supply. Many have electric hookups available.
We have personally researched, chosen, visited and reviewed a key selection of Aires in prime locations from Calais down to the Spanish border. It would be impossible for us to personally visit all 2500+ French Aires (chance would be a fine thing), so we will remain selective and expand the site as our travels take us further afield. We have also provided links to more comprehensive guides, both online and in print, and to other useful accessories should you need them.
The site is offered as a starting point for anybody wishing to reduce their overnight accommodation costs and make more use of these excellent low-cost facilities. Our detailed first-hand reviews include photos and videos of the Aire and its locality, online map information, and a variety of free road-tested SatNav POI files to help you navigate between them with ease.
We hope you find the site helpful - if so, please tell others all about it. If you have any feedback, queries or suggestions please feel free to contact us.
